The Freeman Artist Residency (FAR) was launched in September 2020, with seed funding generously provided by the Joseph & Robert Cornell Memorial Foundation. These funds were supported and facilitated through the University of Virginia, College of Arts & Sciences and UVa Department of Art.

Further support has been provided by Charlottesville-based artist and founder / director of Visible Records Gallery, Morgan Ashcom; executive director & founder of Creciendo Juntos, Karina A. Monroy and visual artist & UVa Assistant Professor of New Media, Federico Cuatlacuatl.
